The partnership between Veterans to Farmers and Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farm is focused on connecting veterans to a farming career via a 20 week, 300-hour training program. Chatfield Farms is a 700-acre native plant refuge that is not only breathtaking but also productive; every year they fed hundreds of local families through their CSA. The program focuses specifically on small-scale organic vegetable production in a way that engages the mind, body, and soul through a holistic approach to sustainable living. During the 20-week training program participants will discuss key farming/business topics, work/train with Chatfield Farms staff, tour other local farms, and review the farm’s business plan as a group. This class is taught by DBG Education Coordinator and Veterans to Farmers graduate Royce Hale. Upon completion, veterans are awarded a Certificate of Completion recognized through CSU’s Extension Office .
Come see why this partnership has created one of the most recognized veteran farming programs in the nation.
