Market Farming – Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farm

Learn Market Farming Techniques with Veterans to Farmers

Our Market Farming Program is held at the Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farm. Learn about the processes, techniques and equipment behind market farming.

Course Overview

The partnership between Veterans to Farmers and Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farm is focused on connecting veterans to a farming career via a 20 week, 300-hour training program. Chatfield Farms is a 700-acre native plant refuge that is not only breathtaking but also productive; every year they fed hundreds of local families through their CSA. The program focuses specifically on small-scale organic vegetable production in a way that engages the mind, body, and soul through a holistic approach to sustainable living. During the 20-week training program participants will discuss key farming/business topics, work/train with Chatfield Farms staff, tour other local farms, and review the farm’s business plan as a group. This class is taught by DBG Education Coordinator and Veterans to Farmers graduate Royce Hale. Upon completion, veterans are awarded a Certificate of Completion recognized through CSU’s Extension Office

Come see why this partnership has created one of the most recognized veteran farming programs in the nation.
