To return the family farm to a prominent position on the American landscape with a new generation of veteran farmers.
To provide American veterans with pride, education and fulfillment through a permanent source of sustainable income, community and contribution: The family farm. VTF is partnering with organizations to help ensure our graduates have many sustainable career options after completing the training program. Whether it’s management in an up-and-coming greenhouse franchise that sells CSA shares year-round, employment opportunities with organic soil farms that sell food to restaurants and grocery stores, or providing further education and support to help our Veterans start their own farming business, VTF ensures a path to a secure economic future, that also leads to a sustainable future of food.
In 2009, United States Marine Corps Veteran Buck Adams established Circle Fresh Farms, turning 12,000 square feet of greenhouse into 5 acres within 3 years, becoming the largest organic greenhouse grower in Colorado. In 2011, he made it a company initiative to train and hire fellow Veterans. After successfully training 6 veterans, the word was getting out about the program. With over 300 eager participants, Adams realized that the interest from Veterans was much greater than he anticipated; thus, he developed a model and training program that would lead to business ownership, founding Veterans to Farmers.
